About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Android Developer to join our remote Development team and play a key role in designing, building, and evolving high-quality Android applications.

You’ll work closely with Product, Design, Backend, and Engineering teams to turn product requirements into scalable, reliable, and intuitive mobile experiences. Beyond writing code, you’ll contribute to architectural decisions, establish engineering best practices, review code, and mentor other developers.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, takes ownership of what they build, and cares deeply about performance, maintainability, and user experience.

What you'll do
  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Android applications using modern Android development practices.
  • Translate product and design requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions.
  • Make architectural decisions and contribute to the evolution of our Android application architecture.
  • Build robust, responsive, and performant mobile experiences.
  • Work with RESTful APIs and integrate Android applications with backend services.
  • Implement asynchronous and reactive programming using Coroutines and Flow.
  • Build and maintain modern UI using Jetpack Compose, while also improving and migrating legacy UI where required.
  • Apply appropriate architecture patterns such as MVVM, MVI, and Clean Architecture.
  • Write clean, testable, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Participate in code reviews and help establish engineering standards and best practices.
  • Investigate and resolve performance, stability, and production issues.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Backend, QA, and other engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level developers and help raise the overall technical capability of the team.
  • Stay current with developments in the Android ecosystem and introduce relevant improvements to our development practices.
What we're looking for
Must have
  • 5+ years of professional Android development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Kotlin and good working knowledge of Java.
  • Deep understanding of the Android SDK, application lifecycle, and core Android components.
  • Strong experience with Jetpack components, including ViewModel, LiveData, Room, WorkManager, Navigation, and related libraries.
  • Hands-on experience with Kotlin Coroutines and Flow.
  • Strong experience with Jetpack Compose, including experience migrating or integrating Compose into existing applications.
  • Solid understanding of MVVM, MVI, and Clean Architecture principles.
  • Practical experience with Dependency Injection, particularly Hilt or Dagger.
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, JSON, networking, and backend integration.
  • Experience writing clean, maintainable, testable, and production-ready code.
  • Strong understanding of Git and modern software development workflows.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a distributed/remote team.
  • A strong sense of ownership and the ability to independently drive features from implementation through delivery.
Nice to have
  • Experience with modular Android application architecture.
  • Experience with Jetpack Paging, DataStore, Firebase, or similar Android ecosystem technologies.
  • Experience writing unit, integration, and UI tests.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated mobile application builds and releases.
  • Experience with Android performance optimisation, profiling, and debugging.
  • Experience working with offline-first applications or complex data synchronisation.
  • Experience integrating analytics, crash reporting, push notifications, or third-party SDKs.
  • Familiarity with mobile security and secure API integration.
  • Experience mentoring developers or leading technical initiatives.
  • Exposure to iOS, cross-platform development, or broader mobile architecture.
