About the role

We're looking for a Junior Android Developer to join our remote Development team and grow into a key contributor building high-quality Android applications.

You'll work closely with Product, Design, Backend, and Engineering teams to turn product requirements into scalable, reliable, and intuitive mobile experiences. You'll receive guidance from senior developers while progressively taking ownership of features, learning architectural best practices, and sharpening your engineering fundamentals.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone early in their Android career who is eager to learn, enjoys solving problems, and wants to grow into a strong, well-rounded mobile engineer.

What you'll do

Develop and maintain Android application features under the guidance of senior developers.
Translate product and design requirements into working, maintainable code.
Assist in building and improving UI using Jetpack Compose.
Work with RESTful APIs to integrate Android applications with backend services.
Learn and apply asynchronous programming using Coroutines and Flow.
Follow established architecture patterns such as MVVM under senior guidance.
Write clean, testable code and participate actively in code reviews.
Help investigate and fix bugs, performance issues, and production incidents.
Collaborate with Product, Design, Backend, QA, and other engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle.
Continuously learn Android ecosystem best practices and grow technical skills through mentorship.

What we're looking for

Must have

1–3 years of professional Android development experience (internships/strong personal projects considered)
Working knowledge of Kotlin; familiarity with Java is a plus
Basic understanding of the Android SDK, application lifecycle, and core Android components
Familiarity with Jetpack components such as ViewModel, LiveData, Room, and Navigation.
Exposure to Kotlin Coroutines and Flow
Some hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose, or strong willingness to learn it
Basic understanding of MVVM or similar architecture patterns
Understanding of REST APIs, JSON, and networking basics
Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows
Good communication skills and eagerness to learn in a distributed/remote team
A proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership as skills grow

Nice to have

Personal or academic projects showcasing Android development skills
Basic exposure to Dependency Injection (Hilt or Dagger)
Familiarity with unit testing or UI testing concepts
Interest in CI/CD pipelines and mobile release processes
Curiosity about performance optimisation, profiling, and debugging
Exposure to Firebase, analytics, or push notification integrations
Interest in mentoring or growing toward a senior engineering path
Exposure to iOS or cross-platform development
